Queensland School Catchment Maps & Zone Finder by Address

Enter your home address to see your local Queensland school catchment on an interactive map. A catchment, the enrolment area the Department of Education also calls an intake zone, sets which government school your child is entitled to attend at each stage of their schooling. The finder shows your primary, junior secondary and senior secondary zones together, so you can see every local state school for one address in a single search.

How to find your QLD school zone?

Finding your zone takes a few seconds:

  1. Type your residential address into the search box and select it from the suggestions.
  2. The map highlights the catchment your address falls inside and lists the local state school for each stage of schooling.
  3. Use the Primary, Junior or Senior filter to focus on one stage, or leave it on “All” to see them together.
  4. Prefer to start from a school? Search by school name instead to see the area that school covers.

If your property sits close to a boundary, zoom in to check exactly which side of the line it’s on, then confirm with the school. Address matching is indicative, not a guarantee of placement.

How school zones work in Queensland?

Queensland is unusual in splitting catchments into three stages rather than two: Primary (Prep to Year 6), Junior Secondary (Years 7 to 10) and Senior Secondary (Years 11 to 12). Because each stage has its own boundary, a single address can sit in three different catchments served by three different schools, which is why the finder returns a separate local school for each stage. Living inside a catchment gives your child a guaranteed entitlement to enrol at that local state school.

Catchment boundaries are set and published by the Queensland Department of Education and apply to government schools only; special and specialist schools enrol through separate processes and aren’t shown as zones. Enrolling at a school outside your catchment is possible but depends on available places, and busier schools manage this through an Enrolment Management Plan (EMP). Boundaries are reviewed and can change between years, so always confirm the current zone and enrolment requirements with the school before you commit.
