Enter your home address to see your SA school zone — the government primary and secondary school your child is entitled to enrol in based on where you live. The finder matches your address against the Department for Education’s current zone boundaries and shows them on the map, along with the closest schools nearby.
Zones are matched to the address you enter and are indicative only. If your home is near a boundary, zoom in to check it against the line on the map, and confirm with the school or the Department for Education before making enrolment decisions.
You can also search by school name to jump straight to a particular school and see its zone.
In South Australia, a school zone is a geographic area set by the Department for Education. If you live within a government school’s zone, your child has an entitlement to enrol there. Zones are defined separately for two levels:
Some schools are combined (Reception–12) colleges and have both a primary and a secondary zone, so a single address can return more than one zoned school.
Importantly, not every South Australian school has a zone. The Department draws formal boundaries for some schools — secondary zones are concentrated in metropolitan Adelaide, with primary zones for selected schools across the state — but many government schools are unzoned. For an unzoned school, your local school is generally the closest one by road, and enrolment can also be shaped by capacity management or bus routes. The finder shows the zones that exist and falls back to the nearest schools when your address isn’t inside a drawn boundary.
School zones apply to government schools only. Catholic and independent schools set their own enrolment policies and don’t use government catchment boundaries — though you’ll still see them listed among the nearby schools.
Zones are reviewed regularly and can change between enrolment years. The boundaries in this finder are sourced from the South Australian Department for Education via data.sa.gov.au under a CC BY 4.0 licence, and are current for the 2026 enrolment year.
